Drop Service

Some files, such as executables or those over a certain size, cannot be sent as attachments. Affixa will warn you when this is the case and will ask to use our Affixa Drop service.

Using the Service

When you use Affixa Drop, your files aren’t attached to your email, but are instead stored on a web server. Inside your draft email, we’ll include the links to those files so your recipients can download them.

You can also choose to use our drop service for any file from the tray application by clicking the “Affixa Drop” icon:

Configuration Options

You can customise how the Drop service is used by opening the Tray application, and choosing “Options” from the “Affixa” menu. Then choose the “File Hosting” tab and click the “Preferences” button to get the following window:

From here you can choose how long the files should stay on the web server, enter an administrator password for your drops, or choose whether you want the files to be hosted in North America, Europe or the Asia-Pacific area.

You can also choose whether to use normal web addresses such as:

http://drop.affixa.com/abc123/myfile.zip

or shorter addresses such as:

http://drop.affixa.com/abc123

Both types of web address will work in exactly the same way.

Deleting Drops

If you ever want to delete a file from Affixa Drop, just find the web address for the file in question and add “/delete” to the end of it. For example, if the download web address for your file was

go to

http://drop.affixa.com/abc123/myfile.zip/delete

in your web browser to delete the file. You’ll be asked for your password first.
