Adria Richards is the founder of Aden Networks. She uses Affixa to quickly send off documents she's working on without getting distracted.

"I use Affixa because it's part of my workflow; I can send things out with a few clicks."

Adria uses the drop.io file sharing service as well and plans to let clients know about the new Affixa feature which connect to drop.io.

"This will be great for my photographer friend who sends photos by email or CD. Since he is comfortable with how email works, he can use Affixa to easily create a password protected "drop" to share the photos he takes at weddings!"

The family technical support guy..

Mmm.. Fromage!

My mum and dad recently retired. Their plans are to see the world, but of course they want to keep in touch with their only son and tell me all about their fabulous adventures. To that end, they've bought themselves a new laptop and digital camera.

As the family's go-to guy for technical support ever since they first bought a VCR, I knew this wasn't good. Not good at all.

Sure enough, it wasn't long before I was sent several 8MB photos from France. Photos of cheese. First question: why did they think I'd like to see photos of cheese? Second question: could they not have, you know, made them a wee bit smaller first?

Many years ago in the days of Windows 98, I tried talking my dad through resizing using PaintShop Pro. I'll readily admit that the steps were a bit convoluted for a non-techie. Windows XP made things a bit easier, but I never took the time to walk through it with my dad as it just felt like it was going to be a painful experience.

So Affixa's been a lifesaver for me on this front. They can just plonk the files in a basket and I've preconfigured it to do all the resizing for them.

The baskets also have another benefit. My dad can give each basket a name - like "Smelly French Cheese" - save it, and re-use it again in the future. You wouldn't believe how many problems my folks have finding the same photos more than once without Affixa!

The only thing Affixa won't do just yet is detect that a photo is of a chunk of cheese and ban them from sending it to begin with. It's only a matter of time though, I'm sure.
